Exploration

Exploration is an essential part of my practice, both in and out of the studio.
I think that just about anything can influence the work...sometimes it is a texture I notice in some concrete as I am walking into a store; other times it is an aesthetic concept that I am trying to communicate. Much of my work tends to surround themes of energy, memory, and sensory experience.
Experiencing cities around the world is definitely a large part of my process. All of the senses are engaged when I am in a new city. From the air I breathe, to the food I sample, and all of the colors and architectural details I can see. I am also paying attention to social and cultural cues around me and trying to learn as much as I can. I always return to the studio with a renewed and refreshed perspective.
