About
Kelly Seeber is an artist and photographer interested in energy, memory, connection, and possibility. Through exploring, painting, writing, and photography; Kelly invites inspiration and discovery of the world around us through art.
Mostly known for her raw, urban aesthetic, Kelly often uses non-traditional, found, and recycled materials in her paintings. Works are built up and reworked over time by sanding, scraping, and dripping layers of paint, inks, and materials. Energy, gesture, process, and materials come together to form unique, complex works.
Kelly was awarded a Painting Fellowship by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) in 2017. Recently, she held a 2nd solo exhibit with the VMFA titled, "Pink Light, Palaces, and Temples; In Honor of Wanderlust", and exhibited with 2nd Street Gallery and Quirk Hotel in Charlottesville, VA.
Originally from San Francisco Bay, Kelly now lives and works in Virginia. She founded Urban Theory studios and began exhibiting her art in 2015.
